Apocalyptica's one

Now many a post might have been written on this I wouldn't know because I didn't check.

I write it for the pure joy of reading this the next time I hear this song. so here goes apocalyptica's one.

First the song. Listen to it as you read. Yes it is long. But worth it all the same.

A little history: this is based on the original by metallica from the album '...and justice for all'

The song is about a prisoner of war soldier and his life and his plea for freedom from his opressors in the form of euthanasia. But this isn't about the original. The original by metallica is like a movie. Played before your eyes. Pointing to you every evil and detail. Vivid splashes of colour on a black shallow background. They (metallica) are true masters of an art of bringing music to life through their lyrics and mind bending riffs.

Apocalyptica's one is played on cellos alone. To most it may seem like a joke but it strangely is one of the most touching songs you will hear. Press play here.

If you've heard the original instantly you'd notice Its more-quiet, deep and intense. Like the opener. It sets the pace for you to follow. Bringing you slowly to the field. The Calm second bringing out the slow pain of the protagonist introducing you to him. Making you aware of him and every crest and peak as you will follow his journey through the war. It has a mellowness. Making you calm yet sad all at once.

Progressing through, the pace changes. It has a fleet footedness to it. Much like a warrior bringing you upto speed. Settling down once again to elaborate on his story. His morbid tale fraught with horrors one could never imagine. He narrates his bonechilling experiences with his opressors. And in a moment he asks for freedom. Until he realises all alone.

Pushing you to see what has become of him. It urges you to heed him. Begging pleading all the while.

Until he can see that the light to his tunnel is death itself. He prepares himself for the long journey. He is demanding for his death. As the life is his and his alone. The one thing that offers him solace from this harsh and dreary world as he is trapped in his mind. Left to his own thoughts. All by himself. A fate worse than solitary confinement as he has nothing but his mind about him.

His mind is rushing through his life. The war. The fighting. His capture. The torture. The unspeakable things they did. The last few deep rooted memories of pain. His last cry of anguish and plea for redemption. Preparing, flying away, he is making his way to the light. Even as his tormentors seek to drag him on. Just a little more.

Until he makes it. He is free. Happy and peaceful 'ONE' with the light. The music is gone. The story over.

Thanks for reading.

What defines you.

Its an interesting topic. It came from a movie to me. I was watching how to train a dragon one night and certain words really stood out. We'll come back to that in a bit.

So the question 'what defines you?' How do you understand it. Reminds me of the old song I sang in school 'gods love'. If you remember it. The definition is so vast. Today morning I was talking to a friend. And the friend said that its the time and effort you put into things. They define you. Makes sense.

But think about it. Its like watching a movie. Do you remember everything? Actually yes you do. But only if you think hard. What do you remember the most? The important bits? The juicy bits? Yeah? That's what I thought.

Isn't your life like that? You remember all the important juicy bits. The highs, the lows, that one word, the moment your heart fluttered, the moment your jaw fell out, those tears, that hate, the deeprooted love. Its just moments and they define you.

Now you might say I'm wrong. Very wrong. Its a combination of everything. It isn't those moments. Its that somewhere deep down one single thing changed with the passing of that moment. It is *THAT* change that defined you and your decision. So deep down that even you didn't realise it.

To come back to what was said in the movie here are the lines as the first dragon fight is about to start:

Gobber: Don't you... no, Hiccup! If you ever want to get out there to fight dragons, you need to stop all... this.

[gestures to all of Hiccup]

Hiccup: But you just pointed to all of me!

Gobber: Yes! That's it! Stop being all of you!

Hiccup: [nodding and glaring at Gobber] Oh...

Gobber: Oh, yeah!

Hiccup: You, sir, are playing a dangerous game! Keeping this much raw viking-ness contained! There will be consequences!

Gobber: [deadpan] I'll take my chances.

Think about it and tell me too. >

Mind time machines

Its an interesting thought. We all live in a mind warp. Where time and its passage in our lives seems to leave our memories and thoughts far behind.

While I would agree with anyone who might say that; that is a perfectly vague sentence. Pray be patient. I have a point.

A short story to elaborate it. I was talking to a dear friend who lives by herself. She refused to do visit somewhere stating that her 'boy' would be left out of it and alone.

Coming back to my point, until now, I had believed that this was the same playful 'kiddish' person I had spoken to a while ago. All of a sudden that whole image was shattered and that one sentence forced me to rethink the entire image I had of this person.
It was hardly a while ago she was carefree in her own world lost roaming. And here she was, actually a mature, understanding person with a sense of resposibility in complete contrast to that prior image.

Which brings me back to that time warp. It also reminds me of the movie wake up sid. Where the protagonist does everything he can to show the girl he likes that he's grown up and yet she requires a shakedown to break that image she's lived in belief of the whole time.

That time is running away is true but time faster than thought is truly numbing. What do you think?

A new twist to questions...

So here i am again this time i'm wondering (still) what in the world i should do. Do i leave whatever i am capable of in history and just do something i believe i will enjoy doing NOW? There arises a question and i know this to be a difficult one... What do you do with the past?
1. Do i make peace with it and leave it?
2. Do i keep it on the back of my mind as a reminder?
3. Do i mull over it and try and figure out what it is that was right. What was wrong. Then try to proceed with life?

I don't think i'll ever figure it out. I don't believe i want to make peace with certain things, i want them to be there. Despite their pricking. Don't you have things like that? But there are others i'd rather bury and leave behind. And then some i'd like to keep and leave some mindspace for, just for hindsight.

Seems like the same old problem of middlepath to me. Do you have a better option? Leave it on my fb page or email it to valhallen.282@gmail.com

Strange smell

OKAY, today's post is a little more different. i would request you to reply. it'll make life more fun. i was at lunch when one of the staff at the store had gotten something smelly. No no it wasn't bad. quite nice actually it was a pulav of some sort.

It got me thinking: DO people smell like what they eat or do most? here's some examples:

1. my mum and dad always smelt like my store when they got home. very pleasant soothing aroma of flowers or something.

2. my first ex-gf. she was gujju. her sweaters especially smelt like my naani's muthia. which is a gujju delicacy. I rather like it so i let it be.

3. my second ex is mangy. well she like my aunts house kinda have this faint distinct smell of fish. i didn't like it too much but ok.

3. a very old friend of mine from college. She is short resembles a 10 year old is catholic and always, almost ALWAYS smelt of flowers. I have no clue why!

4. another friend of mine. another woman again. she's very sweet we get along well. but everytime she meets her bf i can only smell his brand of smokes mixed with her perfume. not the best combo i might bed.

5. My oldest bud P. Well every i can generally smell only his alcohol on him. i don't know why. unless he's hit his favourite VAT!

Well these are only five examples. i have more but fear of getting obliterated worries me. what do you think? you know anyone like this? Any experience? Let me know...

System Frustrations

This is just a simple compilation of what people do when they are frustrated with their system...

1. Spinning the mouse around. The dumbest darn thing to do! Yes, it asks the system to respond. But just wait will you!!!

2. Banging the mouse. This is the most amusing one. I don't get what carnal satisfaction you get with this. But okay!!

3. Growling and shaking the monitor. Here's the deal: ITS only a DISPLAY ya moron!!!

4. Hitting the enter key. Okay now why the hell would you do this? It's only gonna mess your work up more. Yeah right, like you're listening.

5. Banging the keyboard. Its a keyboard for pete's sake! Doing this wont do jack; but it will make for amusing IM chats later. kinda like "i love this cake" would become -> 89 ;opvBe..... ah you get the point.

6. Hitting the CPU. Well my dear friend, neither is it a bajaj scooter nor is this a bullock cart that hitting it will do you NO good. Maybe make your doctor happy.

This is a slightly more computer savvy person's list now:

7. Hitting F5. Well isn't that smart of you! Bravo. You learned how to hit refresh without the mouse.

8. Switching windows. This is just sheer genius. Did you know focusing on a window allows it to FINISH the job. Guess not.

9. Ctrl+Alt+Del. Well this just had to be there. I don't know what you got out of doing this. Wait lets look at 10 first.

10. The TASK MANAGER. Well you really needed to do this now didn't you? It just adds to the load you bum. Let it be. (in an annoying girl scout voice) 'ooo look at me i'm gonna open the task manager and find out whats the deal with my program. ooo i'm so smart.'

End of the day doing all of the above just doesn't help. Well except the power button.. hehe.... no offense to the girl scouts.

gosh darn stupid keyboard enter button.... %^$@#:"| grrrrrrr
